I have recently seen increased action on the forum showing ignorance towards triggers. I, myself, have been purposefully triggered.
So what is a trigger, and why will you be given a warning for ignoring them?
"A trigger is something that sets off a memory tape or flashback transporting the person back to the event of her/his original trauma.
Triggers are very personal; different things trigger different people. The survivor may begin to avoid situations and stimuli that she/he thinks triggered the flashback. She/he will react to this flashback, trigger with an emotional intensity similar to that at the time of the trauma. A person’s triggers are activated through one or more of the five senses: sight, sound, touch, smell and taste." - PsychCentral
Unfortunately, this is the only good source I can find to give you information. You should never, EVER trigger somebody on purpose. IF somebody askes you to stop saying a certain phrase or such, you dont have to follow through, as long as you do not reply with doing the thing they asked you not to.
IF YOU HAVE BEEN TRIGGERED BY SOMEONE ON PURPOSE, CONTACT ME (kitten) VIA PM AND SEND ME UNTAMPERED SCREENSHOTS OF WHERE YOU WERE TRIGGERED. DO NOT BLOCK OUT USERNAMES OR TEXT.
IF YOU HAVE A TRIGGER AND WANT HELP TO MAKE SURE YOU WON'T BE SET OFF, CONTACT ME VIA PM AND I'LL SEE IF I CAN REMOVE THE FEATURE. (smilies can be remade into more harmless KND operatives, new themes can be made, just contact me and I'll try to work wonders)
